Reliving and Sharing
On June 26, 2010 my husband, Steve, and I married in a garden wedding surrounded by 50 family members and friends. As I look through the pictures I knew I wanted to share the entire process that lead us, both accidentally and purposely, to have what I call an incredibly personal, sustainable wedding. After dating for 7 years, we were both in our fifties, we started to talk about getting engaged. We knew we didn't want to risk purchasing a "blood" diamond so we would look online and at juried craft shows for rings with stones other than new diamonds that we would feel good about purchasing. Occasionally we'd see something but usually the price was more than we wanted to spend. Finally, last October we attended a dinner and silent auction to benefit our local chapter of Planned Parenthood and we spotted a beautiful estate ring that had been donated. Gold, with 3 small diamonds in a unique setting, I slipped it on and it fit perfectly. We opened the bid and only had to up it one more time and won it! So now we had to pick a wedding date.
